According to the report Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change by the IPCC, from 1850 to 2019, the world has accumulated greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 2,400 gigatons, which is an average annual greenhouse gas emissions of 35-36 gigatons. In 2021, 37.12 gigatons of greenhouse gases were released, a 5.3% increase from 2020.
